Oh man, the building where Sierra Academy is, is basically a big glorified ant hill with a flight school in it. Leave some food sitting out and within 5 minutes you'll see a very thick organized highway of ant traffic. Sometimes resembles the Bay bridge toll plaza during rush hour.
I always wondered why ants travel in lines like that. I mean, we do it in our cars, but we only have so much pavement to drive on. Ants have all the room they want. Why not spread out and ease the congestion?
Any entemologists (sp?) care to clue us in?

Not an entymologist but I do know why. Normally there's sort of like scouter ants who go (anyone gotta guess? ) .....scouting for food. They leave behind a kind of scent trail to find their way back as well as lead everyone else to wherever there is food. Basically, if someone made it back, then that way is safe and they should follow...kinda like walking through a mine field might be the best description from an ants POV.
Try an experiment sometime...run your hand or some other thing along the trail somewhere to cover it up or hide it and see how long it takes for them to reconnect the chain. They freak out like there's no tomorrow or something.

Ahh geez, 6th Street!
I had a month with 23 hour layovers in AUS a few summers ago. Many fonds memories of Ivory Cats, the Aquarium, Stubbs BBQ, Iron Creek (?!) BBQ, and late nights walking back to the hotel going "Hey bud, let's get a gyro!"
Even took Kristie once and had a fantastic time.

I was born in New Hampshire and live here now. Thank god I spent most of my childhood in the South, otherwise I'd have this wicked New Hampshah accent!!
