On a walk, almost to the "House of Terror":

The "House of Terror" which is a museum covering the Nazi, then the Soviet, and the successive fascist grip on Hungary. A MUST SEE. It's a killer museum, but cameras are not allow so I was only able to snap the entrance:

Oooh, I'll have to come back here a little later!

Budapest looks just like my hometown Zagreb, one day you will probably fly there too and I'll hate you even more :D

I've heard, but certainly nothing solid, that Croatia is a medium-range target of Southernjets schedule development.

Thanks for the pictures! Did you ever go back to watch "football" with some real English soccer hooligans?

We stay right across from the British Embassy so there were loads of English soccer fans in the bar, but not much hooliganism. Kept chanting some annoying song and making odd noises, I couldn't quite figure it out!

From what I hear they are about to expand the airport in Zagreb (LDZA) and make it a hub for that region. Knowing how slow things go over there I'll probably be at the majors when it happens :D

If you ever go to Manchester and a Man U match is happening, are you going to wear you jersey and engage in said behavior?

My vote is for Arsenal!:D

How'sbout some photos of dem der euro type womens!

Must say when I played soccer........ugghmmmm.....futbol over in Europe a few years ago, those were the times of my life. :rawk:

No one can take that time away from me. Although the lifestyle may have taken a few years away from my life span.;)

If the bright yellow is what you were supposed to fly, what's with the strange dogleg between LIBSI and ILNEK?

Most likely a "..maintain present heading for spacing", or "turn left/right heading xxx" , followed by a "..now proceed direct to Ilnek.", 2 mins. later.

OR it could be that Southernjets filed this direct routing in the flight plan. A good way to make the European ATS system work for you, are short direct routings in between, off airways. If used wisely, it helps reducing enroute slots tremendously!

At the same time, at or around Ilnek/OKL you usually get a frequency change to 133.530(if high FL's) or 132.062, depending if you go eastbound or westbound. Czech controllers are very easy to see through... ;)

Rookie!

You'll get over it (unless a Fed or LCA's on the jumpseat!)
Kevin

If you only fly in central and eastern Europe, it does not even make much sense to use the enroute charts. All of the time you're getting direct routings and shortcuts. You're pretty much screwed, if the IRS's fail on you, because you won't be able to continue on your cleared course. Unless, you're proceeding inbound a VOR or NDB. And YES, there are NDB-only airways over here!!

Looks just like Zagreb because the Hungarians built Zagreb way back when...:D:D

Regarding the en route chart picture:

Look at all those lovely directional airways!!! AGGGHHHHHH!!!! A royal PITA for filing purposes, though I know like you said Doug once in the air shortcuts are the norm.

How do you like Hungarian ATC?

What the hell is a "performance" toilet?

Looks like you can s*%t, shower and shave all at once.

You know, like a "performance kitchen" where you can watch the chef cook? Well... extrapolate the nastiness! :)
