Buddy Passes

It's getting close to that time of year all us JC party animals love.....NJC08!:rawk: After a discussion with firebirdswm at the Cinci M&G about NJC and buddy passes. Now's the time to start firming up plans and for those who just don't have the coin for airfare there are those of us on here that have buddy passes available if requested. If you need a buddy pass fill out the poll above so we have a general idea of who needs buddy passes.

As a reminder, there are rules and stipulation that those who receive a buddy pass need to abide by. (We don't want to get canned or loose our bennies for someone being stupid!;)) Also these passes are not free, but there is a fare fee that is assesed by the airline that issues the pass. The fare varies from airline to airline.

Personally, I like you all far too much to even consider giving any of you a buddy pass.........

Remember if you are riding a buddy pass, that it's bottom-of-the-barrel standby. Good luck!

Yeah I forgot to mention that. Buddy Passes are nonrevenue "standby" travel, just like we travel, but at the lowest priority.

As a jumpseater, I bounce any non rev buddy pass.

On what airline? I can't think of one that puts an online buddy pass below on offline jumpseater.

If you have non rev bennies in that system, then you are probably higher priority then the buddy pass and hence you will get on, but if you are getting a seat in the back strictly on your jumpseat credentials you will be bumped by a buddy pass. At least that is the case with US, CAL, DAL, AA and UAL. Dunno about NWA or any of the LCCs.

And just a heads up, buddy passes in the US system just doubled in price last week.

EDIT: But then again, maybe things are different when you are a Commodore.

I would like to thank Mr. Duck for getting me to NJC last year on his invaluable buddy pass when I was stuck in Houston with no hope in sight.

You're a rock star :rawk: :yar:

Depends on the airline I guess

at DL a buddy pass bumps a JSer from a seat in the back.
Me thinks I was wrong . . . sorry fellas:o

Things are different as a Commodore:D

I thought I bounced someone before . . . maybe I misunderstood.

Vegas can be hard to non-rev into. So if a bunch of you guys (and ladies) find it easier to fly into PHX, I would consider carpooling up.

I'm going to be going into Las Vegas from Portland, I'm hoping someone would be able to spare a buddy pass...? :o It's probably an inconvenient way to travel but I'm a patient guy so hopefully it could work out fine. If anyone could spare one, shoot me a PM, I'll appreciate that greatly!

Thanks!

Bump... Thought I'd see if anyone's able one last time before I drain my savings account. :D If anyone's able please let me know. Thx so much.

What days are you planning? On Airways a buddy pass would be about $125 round trip. Cheapest fair (with tax) I'm seeing on Orbitz is $250. Seeing as how it's Vegas and flights fill at the last minute, I'd say the extra $75 is well worth it for a confirmed seat. If you want to gamble (haha) anyways, let me know which days specifically and if the loads are ok I can get you an Airways buddy pass.

Flying standby may be the only gambling I get to do... Gotta take advantage of the opportunity right? :D

I sent you a PM regarding dates.. Thanks. :)
