Buddy Pass Needed, USAirways, Have interview cant afford tic

Hey everyone, I have an interview with the South Dakota Air National Guard for a pilot position.

Airfare + Hotel is killing me and I was hoping someone on here would let me use a buddy pass on USairways from Denver to Sioux Falls.

If you can help, please PM me.

Thanks so much in advance and wish me luck!

I'd be more afraid of flying standby to an important interview more than the crushing debt of purchasing a ticket! But that's just me!

Ditto on that. Loads are high these days and buddy pass boarding priorities are at the bottom of the barrel. While I understand that the cost of a ticket and hotel is probably a big expense for you, the old "If you absolutely have to be there...purchase a ticket" advice probably applies here.

Besides, buddy pass prices are almost as much as a regular ticket these days on US Airways. That's no joke. I haven't given out a buddy pass in over two years because of it.

I'll give you one if you still want/need it. PM me the info along with your e-mail address and I'll give you the quote/info. I don't log on here much but I'll check my PM's for the next few days.

Thanks MusketeerMan, PM sent.

Its not an official interview, its a meet and great, hand delivering my application package. I have found though, that if you don't hand deliver the package, and you're from out of state, your odds of getting an interview diminish rapidly. If I don't make it, I could drive up later (11.5 hours one way) and show on Sunday, it just wouldn't be as advantageous since everyone will be there Saturday. I'll take the risk if the buddy pass is cheap enough.

Try priceline.com or cheaptickets.com or something, sometimes you can get last-minute deals, and a confirmed seat...

Yeah, you're probably going to be needing a UA buddy pass. PM me if you still need one, but no matter how the loads look I wouldn't recommend it for an interview. I will help you out if you need one though.

I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure punctuality is pretty important for military types. Buck up and buy the ticket if the guard opportunity is important to you.

Re: Buddy Pass Needed, USAirways, Have interview cant afford

Buy a ticket on United or Frontier. Or look and see if you can get a cheap ticket on Southwest to Omaha and then drve to FSD. MSP could be an option as well.

Well I didn't know that buddy passes were such a gamble. I guess I have just been lucky.

Re: Buddy Pass Needed, USAirways, Have interview cant afford

If the loads are good and everything goes how it should, they aren't risky. If wx goes nuts and a flight cancels in ORD or something and they re-route everyone thru DEN on your flight, you're stuck. It happens more than you think.

Re: Buddy Pass Needed, USAirways, Have interview cant afford

It's an overnight round trip. You could probably drive it, and spend a night in a hotel, less expensively that buying a buddy pass. And once you get there, you don't have to worry about getting from the airport to the hotel, or to the headquarters.

Re: Buddy Pass Needed, USAirways, Have interview cant afford

Buddy passes are a complete joke and sometimes the price approaches that of a real life ticket. Friends don't let friends fly on buddy passes.

Buddy passes are pretty much only good for one way, wide open flights on days with no bad weather. And you have to know the tricks.

UA buddy pass SFO-SBA=$210r/t
UA buddy pass SJC-SBA=$73r/t

Word.
