Bryan Bedford addresses House panel on pilot shortage

Watch planes from my office, wish I was a pilot.
Read threads like this, glad I'm not.

It's a vicious cycle for a bored, approaching middle age, male.

I will.

There are going to be Vietnam-era aircraft, a quonset hut, a charcoal grill… dirt… cactus… beer… and probably a healthy "grey market" distribution network to finance the whole operation.

There used to be a C-123 in Fairbanks and I'm not really sure what happened to it. I was told it was in that Mel Gibson movie in 199whatever.
Enjoy your agent orange laced brats.

Citrussy and delicious, my friend. Citrussy and delicious.

There are a good number of them down here in TUS, and even one up at IGM.

It's an awesome career.

If you aren't a regional lifer flying other pilots' routes for D scale.

The world isn't getting any prettier down here for the guys that want to move on. Regardless of how one got the regional job, it shouldn't be a 10-year "paying your dues" at $37/hr. I'm over half-way there.

At some point, money is more important than enjoying a job, especially when you realize that you have to work to 65 yet probably won't live much past it. Either live long and broke, or well-off and young.

Corvette shopping lately?
No, I need a bigger garage. I've managed to squeeze five vehicles into a three car garage. Problem is, I've forgotten what's in there since I can't get to anything. I know there's a Nissan truck in there and a couple of Harleys but beyond that, I'm not sure. I think I have a Mustang or a Camaro in there too....Oh wait, I think it's an Audi. Ah hell, I'll go look later and see if I can find out what it is.

I remember reading a report that said pilots who spent all or most of their career doing domestic flying outlive the long-haul guys substantially. Does this data take that into account? Just wondering.
