British Airways "Jet Jockeys"

Watch "1990 - 'Jet Jockeys' | Inside British Airways (Boeing 747-200 flight)" on YouTube

Thought I would share this interesting Documentary following a British Airways 747-200 crew. It talks about automation taking over pilot jobs with the introduction of the 747-400.
I understand BALPA had a heyday on BBC after this aired, claiming fake news, pilots chasing FAs while clutching umbrella drinks....wait....

But in reality, the BALPA was pretty upset with the portrayal of our profession in what they claimed was a hit piece during BA negotiations. I think they were right.

A lawsuit because a coworker asked if you're dating anyone.???
The two appear to be completely complicit in the conversation.

"Can I set you up with a friend?
Yes, I don't care who.
Boobs or butt?
...
Butt, because then they'll have boobs

Yadda yadda..."

Come on gents, these are CONSENTING adults.

These conversations happen all the time.
Absolutely not. It's forbidden to be human. Ever.

But yeah, kind of a stupid thing to do on national television, as well as the other stuff but I don't know what the European regs are. But yeah... obviously don't go and start conversations like that with people you don't know. A little bit of common sense goes a long way.

My philosophy is that you're perfectly welcome to take a chance by asking or saying something inappropriate to someone.

If you read the situation wrong or don't know the person as well as you thought you did and they get offended and you get in trouble, you have only yourself to blame.

More or less what I was saying. And for god's sake don't say stupid crap in front of the general public (I'm surprised how often that bit of common sense doesn't get exercised)

Typical BA arrogance...
controller said, "C A stand 32"

They go to stand 22, and block other aircraft. The crew then states after being corrected, "they've changed our stand to 32!"

No dummy, open your ears...

You're all missing the point here. The Easy Jet show, is Reality Television. While it's called "reality television," its not. Reality. It is heavily scripted. I'm sure that that scene in the plane, was filmed in the cockpit. But written in the writers room. The writers were heavily trying to push the sexiness of the dreamy male pilot on viewers, for ratings. And playing on the old Alpha-male stereotype of pilots, being studs and bedding stews. That scene seemed so forced and so not natural.

Thats no joke. Had a drink with a fella in the hotel bar. Bunch of camera equipment came in with him earlier and I learned he was actually a reality show producer person. Titles withheld to protect the intoxicated.
The rational was that, sometimes reality happens off camera and they have to gin up a good script to cover what they missed. Said the biggest challenge was getting the "actors" to recreate the emotion. Later admitted to also supplementing for the sake of conveying the "true" message.
Came away from it as if I spent the evening with a pathological liar that believed his own fantasy.
Things most of us nose breathers are fully aware of, just startling to actually look behind the curtain...
It'd be like scoffing at the two idiots arguing whether wrestling is fake or not and then stumbling into a practice...

Wow, did I just post that response to a thread that drifted to a tv show about a real airline with paying passengers and actual pilots?
Just pinched myself. Is this what getting old is??

Is it hot in here? I do believe someone tried to burn me.

My world exploded when an actress friend of mine was telling me about her appearance as a wedding dress consultant.
I was like, "you're not a wedding dress expert"... and then my world came crashing down.
Reality shows aren't real....

As for this clip, I do believe I was also suckered in, as it was genuine. It most likely not, as pointed out.

I'll stand by my earlier post, these conversations happen. Often...
