Bringing your food.. Any good recipes?

I need to find a decent trail mix that I actually like that I can bring with me.....

Create your own... Go pick out the dried fruits, dried nuts (I typically use various raw ones and add some salted for flavor), pretzels, etc. A month supply costs about $15 and I can chomp on it all day long. I typically drink 2 big bottles of water a day and my guilty pleasure is 2 packs of cookies (240 calories). A pack of beef jerky works too.

My saving grace is I can't stand the cookies on the planes. :) I've gone to drinking water on the planes, too. It's actually quite refreshing unless you get a FA that's uber uptight. Might have to try making some of that mix this week. Also might have to give Shawanda a call for some paperwork. I'm on my third sick call this year for sinus stuff....

Man I envy you guys that pack food. I wish I had that much dedication. I'm just plain lazy I guess. I'd probably be 30lbs lighter if I was that dedicated.

If you can cut out the HFCS that will do a lot for the body. Add some veggies and fruit during the trip to the above listings that people have posted.

Thanks for that Jacetheace. Good suggestions.

IMHO: If you can cut out HFCS and hydrogenated oil it will make a huge difference. Its a simple diet to stick with.

A bit pricey, but the built quality is very high and I love it. It will not leak unless tipped upside down.

A free replacement to the $10 medical bag to hold ice on day 3 and 4 is to use the ice bag from the hotel room and tie a knot. Sad part of blowing $10 on an ice bag is that is about what I make on one leg after taxes and our new health care.

Subway, the $5 footlong turkey sub is your friend.

Seriously. Not all airports have a subway, but if you pick one up on the way to work it'll stay fresh for a few hours.

If you workout and lift heavy you dont need to worry too much about calories during a building cycle which can last several weeks. Depending on your intensity, you could eat 4000 calories in a day and still lose inches (you'll probably gain weight though). For me, its an fun way to not have to count calories and not balloon up at the same time. When it comes time for a ripping cycle if you're not dedicated you can always just take it easy for two months.

Good tips. I ran across this for cooking in a hotel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMhQc8T7tqQ. My plan is to use a MSR hiking pot 750ml with a supercat cat food alchohol stove http://jwbasecamp.com/Articles/SuperCat/index.html tucked inside. You can use HEET for a fuel and will pass thru security (may need to be disguised). Then I can cook a few fresh meals while out on the road. My layovers doing car parts are a bit different then those at the airlines though.

LOL, thanks. :)

And last but not least, CUT OUT SODA!!! Bring your own tea packets or just drink water.

Hope this write-up helps!
