After two years of using spare time and overnights, I've finally completed my "box ticking" degree. I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania today with a Bachelors of Arts in Jurisprudence. It is largely a degree for legal studies and paralegals, but I always found the subject matter interesting in the course catalog, so that's what I went with. It was interesting and going back to school at 40 was much different than if I would have been 20. I enjoyed it (mostly). The learning was fun, writing papers and discussion posts not so much, but I learned a lot!
It wasn't easy and at times, was a huge burden, a 12 hour day with weather and two hours of schoolwork to do on the front or back of it. Or while on a big family trip to Disney. But I did and it's done and if you're on the fence about doing a degree, find something you like (or would like to learn more about) and do it.
Cal U is a brick and mortar state school in PA and they had reasonable rates for undergrad and graduate studies. They also took all of my associate degree credits from 20+ years ago, allowing me to complete this degree in short order and saving money. Worth a look, especially if you're a PA resident with credits from other PA universities. PM or post with any questions.
I don't intend on hitting the classroom, virtual or otherwise, for a long time. But I won't say never.
