Bose QC15's with UFlyMike Feedback

Anyone have these?
Looking for feedback, like/dislike etc. I've gathered that in general, they are fantastic headphones. How does that translate to them being a headset? I have a bose A20 now, and while its great, im curious about this setup. Definitely alot cheaper. I also had Clarity Aloft, and hated it. The boom never seemed to stay near your lips, and every time you moved your head, it would find a new place to move. Sounds was ok, but earplugs were kind of a pain imo.
So, fit, comfort, sound, battery life (realistic, with playing music when flying), usability in piston aircraft vs pressurized/turboprop, and having them TSO'd (in case you go to an airline). Anyone bought them used and then gone thru Ufly to buy the adapter and get the headset TSO'd? Is tha process as good as having your Bose X/A20 "refurbed" by Bose?

Thank you all, I know its alot :)

I have the QC2 and ugly and love them. I hear the QC15 is better and I am planning to upgrade in the near future. Much lighter and more comfortable than the Bose X or A20.

I have the setup and I really like it. I just got into my first airline gig a couple of months ago and I have the A20's as well. I started with those, but carrying them around with all of my other gear was annoying. The QC15's are def more comfortable, but my favorite part is the size of the case.
You can stash the Ufly in the Bose case and it is a perfect fit on top of my charts in my flight case. I would guess that I pop a new battery in every 10 days or so but I do so at the first sign of the green flash, not when they go dead. The noise cancelling is fine (I'm in the e170). I have also flown with 4 or 5 captains that have it and they all have great things to say as well.

On a side note, I fell asleep listening to music with them on in my hotel room a month or so ago and cracked the headband part that connects to the earphone. I was commuting through Philly and saw a Bose store so I swung in. Three minutes later I was out the door with a brand new pair in the box and not a dollar out of my pocket.

Wow, sweet! Is your headset less than a year old? Bose states the warranty is a year only vs 5 yrs on the X/A20.. Or is it pretty much an unspoken rule that the retaillers/dealers take care of your stuff anyway? Im assuming it was a cheap part for them anyway lol
Anyone else had any experience with service/ parts replacement and cost of doing so?

PS> if you fell asleep with it on, i would have to say its a good headset!

I've had the UFlyMike/QC combo for about 8 years (2 in the CRJ and 6 in the 737). Great setup. I upgraded to the QC15s and got the TSO mod about 6 months ago. If you already have the QC2s, I wouldn't upgrade; it's really not a noticeable difference. I've used them in a 206, Bonanza, and Navajo. It'll have momentary cut-outs with takeoff power in the pistons. If you're going to do a lot of piston flying, I would stick with your A20s.

If you are going to buy used, check the uflymike website and make sure it can be TSO'd.

As far as service, I've had to send the adapter in twice. Once for a cord end that got pulled loose, and once for the mic boom coming loose. Both were relatively cheap fixes and turn around time was a little over a week. Great communication.

I have the QC15/UFM combo. I also have a new pair of Zulu 2s and A20s. I am not a huge fan of the comfort of the A20s although the noise canceling is great. I prefer the UFM combo unless its in a real high noise airplane. They work fantastically in the Lear, real comfortable and quiet. I dont like carrying a bunch of stuff around so its nice that the QC15 case is so small, you can stuff it in your pocket almost. Then when you layover or deadhead, you can listen to music with them. Highly recommend them!

Yeah, the headset was still under the year warranty. However, the guy in the store said since it wasn't a defect, they typically don't cover it. He pretty much hooked me up.

I have had an old pair QC2 and UFM and they were good. I then walked into a Bose store for some new ear seals and they upgraded me to the QC15's for $99. They stand behind their equipment and also offer a trade up program on most items. The QC15 with the UFM are really good and cut the noise in the 727 cockpit dramatically. The also make ATC comms very clear. I would recommend them to anyone in a jet. I don't see them working in a piston or loud turboprop since they don't have the passive noise cancellation for those environments. The battery life is also very good.

The only drawback is, if the battery goes dead you can't hear. There is a light on the side that will let you know when the battery is getting low and you will also start to hear the noise cancellation cutting in and out when the battery gets low. IMO if you can manage other finite resources such as oil, fuel, altitude, and airspeed you can easily manage 1 AAA battery. If you are from a company that requires the TSO sticker you can get the certification from UFM and earbuds that will allow it to work if the battery dies. The other draw back is that that the mike only can go on the left. A bit annoying if your an FO IMO.
