Bose A20 Microphone Issue

Hey guys,

I've been flying with the A20's for about 8 months, currently working on my Commercial at a 141 school in Phoenix. Great headset but I've had an ongoing issue with the microphone not consistently picking up my voice. I've already replaced the entire microphone assembly once with Bose and still had the same problem. Bose had me send it in to them for repair, got the headset back and still having the problem. I'm now using the manual squelch on the G1000 which seems to be helping but has anyone else had this problem? The 172's we have get quite a bit of use out of them and I thought it was just the plugs getting worn out but it's happening in every plane.

Thanks!

Certain voices G1000 tunes out, saw that with Clarity Aloft too.
Seems kind of random too, not a pitch/volume of voice, but I have two friends I can think of that can't fly G1000 airplanes without using manual squelch for that reason.
Your issue might or might not be related to that.

Could be the Audio panel in the Garmin 1000 aircraft is not quite putting out the correct voltage to the headset jacks. Some headsets are a little more prone than others when the voltage is off slightly.

Have you tested another A20 or a different headset in the same airplane to try and isolate the issue?

Might not be the headset. I've had quite a few students who have experienced problems with the G1000 intercom not picking up their voices. Manual squelch makes the problem better but didn't always solve it entirely.

I haven't, just the 172's at the flight school I'm at (15+ planes). I'll try and get in something different to see if it follows. Just seems odd that it's in every 172, granted they all have the G1000 in it.
