Boots?

Ariats all the way, with the lacey stuff on them. I think plain boots with nothing on them dont look dressy enough personally....

Does Tony Llama make a boot with a fiberglass shank? Both my pairs of llamas and my Justins have a metal one and it's a pain gong through security. I know Ariat makes a boot with a synthetic shank but they just don't fit my feet the same.

Several soles ago, I had the person who does all my shoe repair remove the metal shank out of my Justins and replace it with an airport friendly walk through the metal detector one. Didn't cost that much.

It must be a TX thing. Plenty of pilots wearing things like these around here:

Note,

Wolverine soles have metal shanks that set off metal detectors. Bummer!

I was mainly teasing the "fashion police" with my post, but it's nice to see how many people either wear or like boots with the pilot uniform. I wear boots any time I'm wearing pants. They are definately the way to go when it's wet cold or snowing.

I will say that a flashy design or type of leather is definately not appropriate. No spurs, alligator skin, or rattlesnake heads on the toes.

You'd better watch it fella...I don't know what yew got 'gainst cowboy hats...haha :D

I thought about putting the Horizon hat pin on my black cowboy hat and wearing it to work one day...just to see what they'd say...

There's a beer in it for you if you do...

I seem to recall a certain airline (now a part of Delta) at which cowboy hats were tacitly encouraged...

Spurs are only acceptable when flying very old taildraggers with no brakes.

Cut holes in the floor, stick feet through, use spurs as brakes! :D

I wear cowboy boots once in a while. Pushing the rudder pedals is a pain in the a$$ with the heels. And have fun if you don't have an APU in the summer. Gets a little warm.

Ariat Ropers are awesome. They look perfect with a pilot uniform and are the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. Metal detector friendly too.
