Book for PPL

Add another 10 hours to your training with FAA books. Jeppeson makes it 10x more fun and keeps you motivated. FAA books = zZZzzzz

I personally like Rod Machado. Really corny at times, but it has all the information and keeps you moderately entertained.

I have much respect for anyone who can get through an FAA publication without feeling at least somewhat suicidal by the end of the first chapter.

I'm also a big fan of the Rod Machado book. I used it as a supplement to the other pubs. If I was fuzzy on something, I went back to the Machado book and read his version of the same content. "Aha!" I would think as I read his rendition.

Machado's way of delivering information is just a little more accessible, in my opinion.

I agree with what some of the others said. I used the Jepp PPL book, but I also looked at the FAA stuff for my CFI. It is much not as "fun" as the Jepp stuff, but it is free.

I also tried the Sporty's PPL video. It was ok and kept me awake, but I felt it was lacking in material. It was nice since I was traveling for work at the time, so if I was at the airport with a 3 hour delay I could watch the videos. I have never fully watched all the Jepp videos, but they do seem more comprehensive. We used the Jepp stuff at my old flight school where I worked.

Anything specifically or a particular volume?

I am trying to remember if there was a specific volume, it was a while ago. But in general I felt that the videos alone didn't go into enough detail to pass the written or an oral. I know the Jepp ones probably require book study as well, but the videos cover almost all the material in the book.

I liked the Sporty videos, and I always got a laugh when "the man" Collins started on his soap-box. I liked the weight and balance stuff too, they had like 2 big guys, 350 plus and a bunch of giant bags trying to get in the Cessna. Kind of funny. I know the Jepp video has a cool guy wearing a leather bomber jacket all the time, so they both have their comic relief.

What is the BEST all-inclusive book that covers everything you need to know for PPL license?

All the PPL books cover "everything you need to know". You don't have to worry about one being *lacking*.

After that it is just personal preference.

-------

Was our personal preference of PPL books the actual question?
If so, I like the FAA publications and Jepp.
