Boneyard

Since I live and work in the midst of numerous boneyards, here's a sampling of planes that are current residents; some complete, some sans engines, some minus parts.

And more to come....

Pinal? I used to fly there all the time, Id land long, then taxi back slowly checking out all the birds on the ramp. I always had a pickup truck fallow me the whole way, every once in a while someone would get on the radio and blabber something to me. I'd hate to see what kind of strings and insurance waivers you'd have to pull off get out.

very nice photos , altough, what is wrong with these AC? besides the 727
is the rest decomissioned as well?

Well, I saw a couple of -200's that I flew at Mesa. They have been 'returned to the lessor' I believe. The one in the first pic on the left, on the left... 650ML I flew last on 3/30/09. (I looked it up in my logbook because I was curious) The one in the first pic on the right is a Mesa bird also - the unpainted ring on the cowling looks 'normal' somehow - just can't remember the tail number of that one though.

Is this VCV... I thought that was supposed to be the final resting plae for most of the Mesa -200's?

Seeing these planes lifeless in the boneyard makes me feel kinda down. :(

TUS and MZJ are where my photos are from. Work at both places.

When I visited Artesia for the Ray Charles Gun School we went by Roswell and there were tons of old birds there. Wind blowing and the combined tink-tink-tink of fan blades and occasional tumbleweeds made for a solitary moment.

Actually it is the O-2A Furious Avenging Death Angel. :D

Wish I had had more time to snoop around when I was passing through earlier this month. Will have to check it out next time I stop through there.

Ah, I should have looked to the left a little bit at your avatar... too much tunnel vision.

I wonder if I could purchase a CRJ from the bone yard, and make it into a play house for the kids (and myself) in the backyard?

No, but your probably can purchase a old 727... I remember a bunch of 'airplane homes' trying to be built 5-10 years ago.

I'd like to have just the cockpit shell from the CRJ-200...I don't need the electronics...just the empty shell...then I could really have some fun with my sim-pit.

Wonder how much that would cost??

I talked with the drummer of the Dave Mathews Band and he had a CRJ full cockpit set up in one of his houses. He was by far one of the nicest celebrity aviation enthusiast I have talked to.

Wow, that's awesome. Definitely did not know that.

Where did you get the opportunity to talk with him?
