Just the opposite. At Delta, expect the only domestic flights on the 787 to be between hubs just like with the 76ER, -400 and 777. However, we expect to keep the ER's flying for many years to come.

Delta is getting the -9 version, right?

First, composites are actually stronger, generally.

I've seen a composite BST motorcycle wheel fail at high speed on a track. I've also seen aluminum wheels fail.

I would take the metal failure over the blow out that was a composite wheel most any day.
