Boeing gets Tanker Contract

As it should be. Why the US Government was considering sending that amount of money overseas is beyond me.

Yes, it aint fair, but when the two products are very close in performance (as these two planes are), the American company should get the edge.

I agree completely with you. Not mention they are experienced with Tankers and building for the US Military.

The tanker contract is a very big deal in Everett, Washington. As flight testing moves forward, I'm betting some JC ers will be interviewed & hired at Boeing.

Boeing Wins Restaged U.S. Air Force KC-X

The Chicago company has been awarded a $3.5 billion fixed-price award for development and delivery of the first 18.

Well... it was going to be built in Alabama or something like that. Not overseas. I do like seeing Boeing win this one, however.

Yeah, it'd create jobs, but billions of dollars would still go overseas. With Boeing getting the contract, both the money and jobs stay Stateside. :)

You guys do know that Airbus pulled out of the bidding, right? Boeing was basically bidding by them themselves! lol.

Also, it was a joint EADS - Grumman venture to be built in the United States. :)

Still, it's nice that Boeing "won". Would have been nice if Lockheed tried to do something...

My understanding was that Lockheed was teaming up with EADS for that contract. Did that change?

Re: Boeing Wins Restaged U.S. Air Force KC-X

Anyone really surprised?

Nope, not really. I personally thought the A330 was the better aircraft than the 767, and so did the AF in 2009 until Boeing threw a fit about it. Don't know if Airbus will complain about this award though.

So far as only use products made in America, we have a number of military products we use that are foreign made or licensed. See the Harrier and the Coast Guard Falcons and Dolphins.

Id rather have the more capable aircraft for our needs. If its made in America, great (which the KC-45 would've been, in Mobile), but if its not, so be it.

U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

Now we just need to bring back hott flight attendants and everything will be right in the world!
