Boeing 727 Cockpit video

The Irish(ish) one that was all in the news a few years ago. BT

Oh for GAWDS sakes, how did I not put that together. Yes. That er (pardon my french) scared the living bejesus out of me one morning. The rudder trim knob has a little cover that can be easily removed. For whatever reason we all thought it was funny to put raunchy pron pictures on the underside of that cover. So, every preflight check you pull that cover off and look. That little (insert adjective for parents never being married) put a rubber tarantula in the cavity, knowing full well the 250 pound brick house sitting next to him was deathly afraid of spiders. I pulled that cover off, saw that spider, screamed like a girl, tried to run, had to ubuckble my lapbelt, screamed like a girl again, slapped him in the back of the head, and was down the airstairs faster that a fat chick to all you can eat night at pizza hut.

I liked him, kept things interesting.

Folks, another JC "small world" real life meets innerweb moment.

Yeah, he's an interesting cat. Drops off the map. Will appear, then back off the map.

With the current sanctions against Iran, I don't think I would ever board any of their airplanes. I do not know how they get parts to maintain them, and I know Syria has quite a few airplanes sitting in "perpetuum", or whatever the correct term is, since they cannot get parts to maintain them. Mehrabad was always an interesting airport to fly in and out of. Even more interesting was dealing with customs there. I think I have the (un)fortunate title of one of the few American pilots who have flown the most in and out of there over the last 2+ years...along with some other destinations in Iran that I doubt many American pilots have ever flown into.

I had the same feelings when I went back. I finally put them aside and chalked it up to the experience. I didn't fly in the 727, but I did ride an F100 and Tu-154. Definitely interesting experience. I had the opportunity to fly on the last civil 707 but ended up running out of time. Maybe next I go back, i'll try and do it!
