The GPS shown in 0:36 is the same one in the UH-1H Hueys I fly.
Whats cool is how Iran flies many of our classics. 727/747 on the civil side that either aren't used in pax service anymore here, or are in limited pax service here. F-4/F-5/F-14 on the military side that we don't use here anymore. All of the above maintained in darn near immaculate condition.
Tehran International looks pretty cool at night on the approach.
I like how the co-pilot explains the engine fire system, as if it happens a lot. Looks like they have nice meals on their flights.
haha..actually that is the captain sitting on the right side.. It's in the comments of the video.
I am not so knowledgeable on this particular aircraft but I always thought 727's had two engines and an APU in the middle. Then why 3 N1, N2 gauges?
With the current sanctions against Iran, I don't think I would ever board any of their airplanes. I do not know how they get parts to maintain them, and I know Syria has quite a few airplanes sitting in "perpetuum", or whatever the correct term is, since they cannot get parts to maintain them. Mehrabad was always an interesting airport to fly in and out of. Even more interesting was dealing with customs there. I think I have the (un)fortunate title of one of the few American pilots who have flown the most in and out of there over the last 2+ years...along with some other destinations in Iran that I doubt many American pilots have ever flown into. The GPS shown in 0:36 is the same one in the UH-1H Hueys I fly.

It is a 3 engine airplane. *edit: Mike beat me to it...I am not so knowledgeable on this particular aircraft but I always thought 727's had two engines and an APU in the middle. Then why 3 N1, N2 gauges?

3 engines.
Aaargh! Way too much talking during engine start!!!!!!
Cool video. Wonder why the capt was in the right seat while PF and running the radios on the ground but not taxiing?? Maybe they edited the video weird but it didn't look like the FE set takeoff power it looked like the guy in the left seat did.
with an APU in the middle. (Well, it's in the wing root, but kinda in the middle!)
That's how a 3 man cockpit starts motors, at least the ones I know. It IS a crew procedure like anything else.
And the right seater doesn't have a tiller. Makes it awfully difficult to make turns! As far as I know, a certain branch of our military puts the "plane commander" in the right seat while the "FO" flies from the left.
My opinion, most normal ops should be silent or as little chatter as possible. When something is wrong, then it is time to speak up.
I agree 100%, and I also keep BRIEFings brief.
I didn't realize that you were an actual DC8 guy at ATI. I'll bet we know the same infamous guy.![]()
You may have to be specific, there were plenty of INfamous guys at ATI.
Though I deny all charges that I was or may have been involved in any escalation of hostilities between Mexico and the US while in LRD.
Naw, there is one that stands heads and shoulders above the rest. If you look up "Freight Dawg" in the dictionary, his picture is under it.
Resides in the "Live Free or Die" state.
