Blood Pressure

forgive me for being totally ignorant on the subject matter, but what kinds of things does high blood pressure indicate?

i have had a few eyebrows raised at me when i have gone for medicals and other checkups and heard comments about my blood pressure, but no one has ever sat me down and talked at any length about it.

suppose i do have "high blood pressure", im 25 years old, eat like a garbage disposal, exercise only sporadically, 6 foot and 170lbs.... what does this mean for me?

thanks!

High blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attacks, and blindness - all of which are disqualifying for flight.

I really like the natural "medicines". I had a doc that wanted to put me on an epilepsy medicine for a headache I was having. It ended up being caused by a tight neck muscle that I had injured by sitting up at night on the laptop. Less than a week of hot pads/cold pads, relaxing tea, and Epsom salt baths and I was good as new. No need for disqualifying medicines :). A lot of the medicines these days have worse side effects than the ailments they are curing IMO.

Instead of "fixing" the core problem it seems more and more doctors like to address the results of the problem rather than the problem itself. Of course, the kickbacks from drug companies don't help our corrupt system.

How high should blood pressure get during a normal day of walking, talking, and living? I have one of those home BP readers, and sometimes it shows some pretty high readings. The instructions say to sit down, and not move for about 10 minutes, no talking, no nothing. Usually then, the readings come back down to normal. But at what point durring the day is anyone just sitting there for 10 minutes, is it bad if I'm getting high measurements after I randomly sit down and take the reading right away?
Thank you.
