Blog to Become a Pilot?

Their training programs aren't much different as far as flight time goes such as 200+ hours for commercial, except they go through hundreds of hours of ground school.

It's on par with a Regional in the US, IMO.

British Airways does the same am I correct? Hires cadets with almost no flight time and trains them the way the think they should be trained?

fly4food84,

There's nothing wrong with an ab initio, cadet program. In fact, there is much to be said FOR it, with Lufthansa being a pretty good example from what I remember.

The problem is that a training syllabus or regs re pilot licensing are just ink spots on a piece of paper and mean little without forthright, proper application and impartial, ongoing oversight over time.

What really tells the story is the point where rubber meets the road since that's where the whole system, resulting from the effects of component parts, comes together. Government oversight is necessary and key in this process.

Google "indonesian airline safety" and read the articles. Adam Air and Lion Air come to mind without any Googling. Air Asia, Lion air and Adam Air aren't regionals.

I don't get the impression anything the Indonesian government does regarding airline safety can be compared on any level to the UK or USA.

And yes, bad marketing doesn't begin to describe that load of bravo sierra. That's got to be an historically bad management idea. :laff:

It's a jungle out there...:D

I wouldn't put Air Asia in the same sentence with those other airlines, however wacky their promotion may be. Pretty sure the pay is decent over there.
