Blew tire on landing, SOF chewed us out...

The blown tires are probably happening cuz people take these planes up with no tread! I got 357ND yesterday for a stan ride and the left tire had no tread at all on the inside half of the tire- totally bald! Why don't people write this stuff up?

probably same reason i got one with a DG that spun like a pinwheel, and one with a landing light that was only marginally operative (flickered off when accellerating on touch-and-gos)

laziness, inattentiveness/poor postflight, rush for time, etc etc etc

or one that i have also heard

a fear that the person will somehow get "busted" for "breaking" something...

i dunno, any SOF's or whatever wanna chime in...is anyone gonna get pissed that a tire is bald? or maybe a light or whatnot isnt working quite properly?

I am guessing a lot of this has to do with people not wanting to loose their launch. Some of the "squawks" you guys describe are grounding items, or at least something that would take mx a while to fix. So they push it and leave it for the next student since they can't write it up after the flight.

If this is really a rampant problem, talk with your Lead for the course your in, if that doesn't work, Dana loves this stuff.

I see nothing has changed.....haha jk (sorta)

I remember being 221 and doing my long solo XC. Got off a little late (30 mins) (can't remember why) and since I went to freakin Rapid City (3 hours!!) it was going to be a long day. On the way back stopped in BIS and called the SOF and said I was running late. Got back to GF and I got an SOF in a pissy mood. I shoulda told them I got off late and all, even though I called from BIS. Other than that, great fun flight!

I feel old now since I was in 221 in 2002. Guess not as old as eglplt :nana2:

I knew it wouldn't be Chris Kehr. He was my roommate. Good guy.
