Want to Buy Black QT Halo

Would buy a new one directly from QT but they never seem to have the black one available for sale. Does anyone have one for sale?

Update just in case anyone is thinking of getting a Halo. Like killbilly said, they quoted several days for it to arrive, but it didn't take more than a couple of days. The quality of the headset itself isn't great. I mean, the materials look pretty cheap and fragile, but I've heard good things from people who have used them for years, so I hope the headset will last. The sound quality is excellent, especially coming from a DC. No sweat and no headaches from the DC either, and no crooked sunglasses. Great buy overall.

Funny thing about the materials. I had that same initial impression, too. But the way they're put together - simply, cleanly - makes a lot of sense - gives them a lot of versatility for wear. And they only LOOK cheap and fragile. They'll actually take a surprising amount of abuse because they're plastic and rubber, and the metal in the headband is pretty flexible.

Very often, you can field repair them. That's not something you can do with most headsets. Phil apparently has talked people through a lot of repairs when something has broken.

The one piece of advice I can offer you - get a different case for them. I bought a Clarity Aloft case on eBay. Much more protection than the stock case you get from QT.

Yes, I'm a fan. :)

Ive been using the Halo for about a year as an RJ FO flying about 700 hours, and it has held up well. I may be a little surprised. I thought it was cheap as well, but I am happy with it.

Thanks. Glad to hear they're not as cheap as they look. Will look into a different case.

The only thing I've been having problems with is that I have a big head, and have not been willing to extend the microphone far enough so that it's in front of my mouth in fear of breaking it. It sits kind of to the side of my mouth and it can be hard sometimes to get my transmission across, unless I talk louder than normal. How do you guys adjust the mic?

Mine survived 4 years of flying freight, don't let their looks fool you.

Mine are still alive and kicking, but I'll be sending them back to get refurbished in a month or two.
