Birthday gift for wife...

I watch DIY a lot had they seem to have a wide range of house and economic background.

Don't forget a portion of the barn for the man cave with the big screen and kegerator.

A note on the massage thing - you can request when you call whether you'd like a female or male masseuse - at least at every place I've had a massage (several).

An idea for you - take her for an overnight trip to Chicago, go to a nice dinner and see a play/musical/blue man group/stomp something like that (if she'd like that type of thing)

How big are your kids? An A36 would be cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate and you can get them with TKS and FIKI thus making it a reasonably "all year" plane in Michigan.

That's all I can think up for what to get her :)

Maybe if it was private, just us and nobody else around. She is very shy. I almost got her a massage once, but bought her jewelry instead and she was extremely relieved that I didn't get her a massage. She said she would be too nervous, uncomfortable, and tense to be undressed and have anyone other than me touch her, even if it is a masseuse giving a massage. If she ended up with a masseur, she would just leave.

So how does she deal with going to a Doctor then?

She hasn't been to a doctor in ten years (birth of last child). She had a midwife for that, but said she lost all modesty when the kid was knocking on the door and didn't care who the doctor was. That's a little different than getting a massage though.

Different in that one, you're going because you're sick. The other, you're trying to relax! :)

But yes, some people are comfortable with it, some not. All personal preference.

I never had a professional massage, but if I did, I'd prefer it to be done by a man. I don't like women touching me.

That sounds like a good plan. We haven't seen blue man group before, but I've heard it's a great show. I would have never thought of that, thanks.

I'll have to visit my friend Google and find a nice hotel and a restaurant.

I had an epiphany about the massage thing...if she would be relaxed around me but not strangers, then I should learn to do massage. This is kinda like the old proverbial cliche, "if the mountain will not come to Mohammed, Mohammed must go to the mountain."

So I called a local massage business and asked if they would show me how to do it. They were hesitant at first and didn't want to, but I managed to get them to give me about an hour this Saturday for a basic lesson. They are charging me more than I wanted to pay, but they did agree to teach me some basic techniques. We both compromised to come to an agreement, but I figure it's money well spent.

Thanks again to everyone for the brainstorming help!

So the brunette will be celebrating four decades on this planet in early Feb and I'm not sure what I'll get her yet. She is a very beautiful woman and is a super wife and mother.

For sure she will get roses and chocolate (she always does and I'm sure she knows it's coming). We'll probably go out to eat somewhere too. Not sure where though. Japanese steakhouse? Italian? Live show with dinner? We live between South Bend, IN and Kalamazoo, MI and I'm open to recommendations. Chicago isn't too far either.

I'm also looking for suggestions for a special gift for turning four-oh. Nothing tacky or degrading (I hate all those stupid over-the-hill things), but something classy and nice. This gift should be all about her.

Thanks.

A sexy piece of lingerie never hurts. :) Perhaps something of a color that she doesn't have that you know will look stunning on her. It definately helps to boost her own confidence about her body knowing that you want to see her in such an outfit.

Don't know why I didn't think of this before. But if you don't need a twin would a PA-32-301T work for ya. Has to be cheaper to maintain and operate that the twin cessnas

Well, she had a great 40th birthday!

I surprised her with a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints, her mostestfavoritist food in all the world, which she totally loved!

I had originally planned to take her to see the Blue Man Group in Chicago, but my son had a High School wrestling tournament so we went to that. We will probably just go out for dinner tonight instead, maybe catch a movie afterwards. Pretty simple, and not exactly how I had planned, but she said she doesn't care so much about getting anything or going anywhere special as long as she is spending some time together with me.

Thank you all for the ideas, they will not go to waste. Just have to keep them back for some other time.

Thanks again, you ROCK!
