Bird Attack!

So the captain and I are walking back from "The Sentient Bean" in Savannah where we had lunch this afternoon then suddenly:

*FOOM!*

*FOOM!*

*FOOM!*

This bird starts attacking the captain! Holy cow! He'd fly away, swoop down quickly, peck at the back of his neck and flail wildly. I guess birds hate red heads in Georgia.

Luckily he didn't get hurt, but I certainly have a good respect for birds now!

HA!! That sucks for the Captain but I'd be on the ground laughing. That is if I knew he was OK and the bird wasn't coming after me too.

Did you get any pictures for "pics from the road'?

This shot is ATL
This shot is not ATL

This shot is my captain today getting attacked by a bird

Thought he was an Irishman probably. Might have had some bad experiences with drunk Irishmen.

I heard that captain diced one of his mates last week going out of ATL - since then he wanted to say 'What's up punk - you messed with him, now you get to mess me'

Sounds like those damn seagulls at Disney. Those things are just plain mean. They'll swoop down and take pizza or a corn dog away from a 4 year old.

Y'all probably got too close to its baby-filled nest. Or maybe it wants to move up on the seniority list.

After it was all over, I bet you had a good laugh! For his birthday, you should send him the movie on DVD, "The Birds"

Attacked by magpies? Certainly have! When maggies are bringing up their chicks in spring the males go nuts, at least around Sydney and the south east of Oz. They particularly like attacking folks on bikes, and they always swoop from behind.

There are various ways of warding them off, such as painting big eyes on the back of your helmet or cap. They clack their beaks as they swoop and on the occasional swoop they make contact. It's terrifying for kids mainly, as we fat arsed adults drive everywhere and reduce our exposure! An elderly man was killed by a magpie attack last year. Bizarre.
