Bike rental

What is the biggest and best Bike App Rental company in the US at the major cities? I have one in PIT but its only PIT and donkey republic in Europe. Does Lime have bikes?

Lime, Citi bike in NYC, just depends on where you are really. I think I have like 8 separate apps currently downloaded. I'll also check through Uber or Lyft apps to see what they have on offer too.

If you're interested in a non-beater full day use option, there are bike shops and tour companies that rent bikes as well. I've rented mid to higher end bikes from shops over the years when I want a 'real' bike.

Just to add what @bike21 is saying about real bikes. Search for "bike demo" when you run your search for bikes. My friend rents out high end bikes for the day near me in Issaquah which is fairly close to a lot of good riding. You'd never find it if you searched for bike rental.

Good stuff. Ive used Citi as well. I like to help out mom and pops, but its just so much easier to unlike a bike via app and go and park it when youre done. No paperwork or anything. Sounds like maybe no has a consolidated power over the country yet. (And for my purposes, I just need something for light duty around some paved trails, not doing any mountain biking)

Some of these are international only, Spin is another one that is like a private bike rental. Haven't used it yet but has promise. Honestly try Uber or Lyft first as they partner with different ones in each city.

People think I’m overreacting when I wear a full helmet on the trails, but you take a header into a boulder out here, you’re getting brained.

I’m rocking the nicest carbon full face available when I race DH. I basically did my best impression of a battering ram into a tree (before upgrade when I still could manage a weekend off and go to bike races) wearing my full face. Destroying the helmet and walking it off with a slight headache. I was still able to race the next day. I hit something, flipped over the bars and hit the tree full force with my head and back. I was also wearing back and chest protection too. The back of the helmet was totally delaminated and squishy. Which I imagine would have been my skull and I’d be dead. If I had not been wearing a helmet.

My suggestion ( go ahead and rock no helmet if you’re senior to me) also applies to lime scooters which IMO are more dangerous and unstable than a bike.

Anywhere good to MTB near PDX? I have a long layover there and I’m brining my bike out. Will rent a car. I like good single track XC, not crazy hikes.

Get the Trailforks app. 100% worth it.

Sandy Ridge is apparently super cool but I’ve never been. You’d love Post Canyon. Also I’ve shuttled some trails here but never did the XC stuff:

Tillamook State Forest on Trailforks

Bit of a drive but I’d head out to Post Canyon, park at Family Man and just start exploring
