Big news out of the XJT front

Just a question, what is FI?

Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It is probably best not to know ;)

Good luck XJT folks. I haven't a clue what is going on, but it doesn't sound good based off some of your reactions.

Who knows, maybe you guys will be the next big thing in the charter business and leave all of us regional suckers behind :)

This is absolutely no way to start off a good relationship if SKW does end up purchasing XJT. Hopefully either both parties can reach some sort of agreement that minimizes job losses or no deal takes place.

Lets hope... and if it goes through SKW pilots should also possibly be on the street. The list should merge and thsoe at the bottom get the axe.... To single out XJET guys only is BS.... Period!

Hopefully if Skywest does get the deal, there will be no list integration and no furlough. Either way, Express doesn't deserve this - hope all works out for you guys.

It's not privileged information. If it was, you'd be the last to know.

Very true. As a former ALPA officer, I can assure everyone that nothing that is released to the pilot group needs to be kept secret. When an MEC sends out a blast email, they expect it to reach the message boards and the crew rooms of every airline in the country by the next morning. No reason to hide anything that is already released by the MEC.

Are you kidding? Or are you a Skywest pilot? A list integration would be the best thing to ever happen to the regional piloting profession. It would mean an end to the biggest non-union airline in regional history.

It's OK. Business is business.

We just got rolled by our own.

Seriously, what's scope worth anyway?

No deal Howie!

If you all purchase xjet and therefore want them that badly. A pilot list should indeed be merged and both SKW and XJET guys should be let go if you all indeed cannot make it work with the number of pilots in both groups. Then again this is how it SHOULD work we all know it will not happen that away.

No, I am not Skywest, yes I am ALPA, but I don't agree with forcing a list integration with a pilot group that clearly does not want it. US Airways comes to mind....

Umm..no!?

Why should skywest guys be punished? Our airline isn't going down the tubes. Also why not ASA they are also owned by Skywest so why single out skywest? Is it because we didn't make the mistake of voting in Alpa.

Fact is Xjt is done either way, and skywest pilots shouldn't be punished because we didn't choose a bad airline.

Not sure what analogy you're trying to draw with Airways. Both pilot groups at the "new" USAirways did want a list merger, because they realize the whipsaw monstrosity that results from separate lists. They just didn't agree on how to merge the lists. Allowing separate lists is suicide.

As far as whether the Skywest pilots want a union, I really don't care. They continue to leech off of the results that hard work and dues revenue brings to the profession without joining the cause. If they need to be forced into joining, then fine. One way or another, the non-union monster needs to be slain.

I'll let the older guys have at ya...

Leech..??? :laff:

I'm hoping my company will leech off of SKW and offer bonuses, stock options and on-time bonuses...

Both groups are going to have differing views of what is "fair." Most of our junior guys probably looked at the situation at XJet and decided to pass in favor of coming to SKW. I view it as entirely unfair to them that they should have to pay the price of making the informed ,and ultimately correct, choice.

So if list integration and furloughs are the price of the purchase, then I say no deal.

No deal? Skywest pilots don't exactly get a say. They get whatever the mormon masters tell them they'll get. Jerry will make whatever deal is in his own best interest, regardless of what it will do to any employee groups. With no contract to hold him to anything, he can and will do whatever he pleases.

What worries me the most is that if I read the email right Skywest has negotiated to fly on their own for CAL along side the 205 expressjet airplanes. What does this open the door for? Skywest flying 70 and 90 seaters? What does the new CPA say about the 205 ERJs? Are they "releasable" 50 at a time every 2 years? Does skywest get the concessions they want from the xjet pilots just to have "CAL" almost immediately release 50 of expressjet's planes (and another 500 pilots) to the desert anyways under the new CPA, then the skywest pilots step in at their lower wages and benefits?

And then the obvious scope problems...If expressjet's 205 airplanes and crews are not protected Skywest could easily never recall an expressjet pilot and just let their non-union "informed" pilots take over the CAL flying one airplane at a time as attrition slowly reduces the remaining xjet pilot list (or furlough 80 xjet pilots a month as skywest trains new "informed" pilots). A few years from now Skywest has all of expressjet's 205 ERJs being flown by Skywest crews and all X hundred xjet pilots are never recalled.

In any case skywest is going to use the two pilot groups against each other at CAL, that's a given and obviously what is being set up in the new CPA. But hopefully we'll hang on to the scope so that at least there might be an expressjet to get recalled to.
