As a temporary installation that thing shouldn't require a STC
But would probably need to log the flight time, pass checkrides and all that

The planes can already do this without that. It'll either be two pilots or zero pilots. This is a nice demo, but I'm thinking has little practical application in modern airliners. This thing also does not help with decision making or operational compliance, which in my opinion is kinda the point of having two guys.

Was thinking the same thing. I've sat there and watched my plane do that.

Ya I guess it could be useful for like a Cape Air, Caravan night 135 freight kinda thing, depending on it's programming, considering that if a 135 has 8 Barons or Aerostars, they'll have 8 different panel setups it'd basically have to be plug and play.

The hilarity is that it was programmed to land a plane using controls designed for humans. Sounds pretty efficient to me!

Humans used to be efficient. Until they started raising a stink about feeding their children.

Not efficient enough, apparently. But the whole exercise of having a "humanoid" fly human controls is pretty amazing.
