Best way to go about starting the CFI

I've had a change of heart, instead of knocking out the Comm ASEL and AMEL this summer, I'm leaning towards getting the Comm ASEL and CFI...That being said, what study materials do you all reccomend? I've got the Aviation Instructors handbook, Bill Kershner's Instructors Manual, current FAR/AIM, Airplane flying handbook and I'm leaning towards going with King School's CFI best buy course. What AC's should I pick up? There are some definate holes in my knowledge I will have to fill (mostly on Aerodynamics), but I'm thinking I should go for it while I have the time, before the Fall semester starts. Thanks in advance.

Aviation Instructors Handbook to learn teaching concepts. Airplane Flying Handbook for lesson plans. King DVD is good for the writtens. Can't remember which AC's I had made copies of.

I used all of the Jeppessen books as well as the FAA materials as well as Rod Machado's private pilot hand book. Another good learning/practice tool is if you have a friend who is interested in flying, maybe practice teaching them. This way you get some practice learning what you don't know.

For Aerodynamics, pick up the advanced pilot's flight manual, also by Kershner

Gleims Flight Instructor, Flight Maneuvers book does a great job explaining the aerodynamics of pretty much every maneuver.

Look in the CFI PTS. There's a list of ACs there. While you probably don't need all of them, it might surprise you to find out what is available for free from the FAA.

Now that I have my CFI, I'll add some resources that helped me:

-The Gleim Pilot handbook is excellent. It basically takes the PHAK and puts it into an easy to read outline format, which I happen to like.
-Kershner's Instructor manual is extremely helpful for creating lesson plans.
