Greetings fellow aviators,
I am new to this forum, and just wanted to give a brief intro of myself and what I am looking at. I am from Virginia and I have obtained my Private Pilot License, Commercial Pilots License with MultiEngine/Instrument Ratings. Currently I am working on my single engine add on to the CPL so I can start my CFI training. I have 320 hours total time with 70 ME. I know there are not that many job opportunities at the moment with low times so obviously instructing is the best way to get to the airlines. I have done my ratings at a local Part 61 flight school here at HEF, Aviation Adventures. Great school and great instructors. However it took me about 2-3 yrs to get all these ratings done due to weather, maintenance issues and instructors leaving for airlines in the middle of training. So for my CFI rating, I dont want any interruption I mean apart from weather or maintenance which you cant control. I wanted to know what is the best academy or school for initial CFI rating PART 61 or PART 141, however I do prefer PART 141 since its more structured and for learning to instruct others that would be more beneficial.
I have looked a few academies such as American Flyers at Morristown, NJ but I heard their program is overpriced and is not what they actually advertise ( CFI-CFII 3K-30 DAYS). I also went to visit Heritage Flight Academy in Long Island, NY and met the Chief Instructor there and there program was quite impressive. The reason I am looking up north is because me and my family are planning to relocate to NY area by end of this year. However, there are good academies in Florida as well such as the Flight Safety Program. So any input from experienced CFIs on this forum would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
