I know this may be a dumb question, but does anyone have any opinions or insight as to what ATP center would be the best to attend regarding planes, mangement, housing proximity to the airport, and etc

I cant tell you the best one but I can tell you where I went:

Riverside
Older model Seminoles.
Riverside is a maintenance facility, so always a few planes on hand.
No location manager.
Housing about 15 minute car drive away.

I went to Phoenix and it is light years ahead of Riverside. ;) j/k.

Newer Seminoles.
Mx facility.
Location manager. So if you don't like something you have someone to complain to.
Housing is very nice! And closer to the airport as opposed to the Riverside apartments.
Great weather.
No fuel delays.

Hahaha thats funny because my XC partner and I sat on the ramp for 30 minutes once waiting for the fuel guy.

All IWA guys I have ever met have been cool though.

All the RAL guys are pretty cool too. Except Billy ("Yes. Ballet parking Billy"), who left me stranded at RAL because the apartments were too far for him.

I've been to Riverside, Phoenix, North Vegas, and Long Beach. The only location that wierded me out was Vegas.

you mean mr lollypop. i was his favorite. hahaha. i got more ARRRRRT!!!'s and yum yum name calling then anyone in my class. yet i seemed to be one of two to pass my initial without a hitch. that mans job is to scare people to study. after all of it though. i miss the 530 cranks.

What do you guys think about the Stuart,Fl location?

I was there for only 15 minutes on one of my XCs. It seemed very chill, not like what you have at Jax.

In my opinion its funner to go to the west coast locations, because 90% of the time you get to go pretty far north, and all the way east. Like I have said in almost every other thread about my experience, I went from Riverside, CA to Stuart, FL. Took about 4 days, but it was awesome. The east coast guys dont get to go to the west coast, some BS about "mountain training." But those guys stay east of Texas, and that sucks.

Im going to the Houston Location, anyone happen to know much about that one?

Change, quick. Houston is easily one of the worst locations. Bad instructors, bad facility, bad maintenance, bad attitude. If you want to stay in texas do it at dallas. Either way you are paying for housing (if you do 90 day) go to arlington.

Anyone else have problems with Houston Location? And did you go to the Houston location or just was rumors?

rumors were bad about two months ago. i have heard that things are changing for the better down there. iw ould go check it out before you make any solid plans.

I visited about a month ago, and everything looked ok. But of course that was a tour. I dunno about everything else besides aesthetics.

Whenever you tour any flight school... be sure and take a few students (in varying stages of training) aside and ask then questions.

That's the best way to get the real skinny on any flight school.

Currently Im in DFW the Arlington Location. Its great here -- new planes, if one does go down for maintenance we have a maint facility here...it takes 5 minutes to call ATP Dispatch and almost like magic they have another plane for us to take here.

The instructors are pretty good -- well grounded and really help you out. They like to have fun to after the day is over so thats pretty cool as well.

I live off the airport in the wonderfully furnished apartments (sarcasim) they're ok for what they are 4 of us generally live here in a two-bedroom place.

As far as HOUSTON goes - I just had two guys come up here for CFI school they did the program in Houston and didnt have a lot of good things to say. Some of the failures were: Plane problems, instructor issues and they were finishing a month late due to plane problems.

Maybe Im biased buy I really have enjoyed GKY - new planes, great instructors, RJ Program goes into working operation here in just a few weeks, CFI school -- I could go on and on....
