I've heard that they're 2 weeks on, 2 off, but someone else may be able to confirm this.

Anyone have more info on them?

It takes a very special kind of person to be able to live up there. Most guys that do it are already from AK. I couldn't do it, but some people love it. The DO that did my type rating has lived there for 30 years...

Who did your training? I was based in Nome for a few months at my last job, and I met a few Bering guys.

David Olson, who as far as I know, is one of 2 people on Earth who can give CASA type ratings.

Nome you gotta live there. Might be a great way to start out for a low time guy with the right personality.

I was based in Nome flying a CASA for a few months. It was nothing that I desired to do long-term, but it definitely was a blast while it lasted, and as a low time pilot I learned a HECK of a lot. I'm flying shiny Learjets nowadays, but the sense of adventure just isn't there like it was when I flew in Alaska. I would gladly do it all over again in a heartbeat if given the chance. I would strongly encourage anyone capable and willing to work up there to go.
