Under the old Chap 30, I don't see why we wouldn't pull in GIB money. But under the new S22, it seems to be worded to pay tuition for the student, but since it's obviously employer funded, it gets grey.

There is another thread for Vets that was just posted to recently with tons of links and info.. The VA, and FAA sites point to "yes, OJT pay, and with the new GI bill we get BAH as well". Someone was also as OCD as I am and did the numbers.. The payscale inclusive of this is a much better situation.

I wouldn't have even imagined or thought about it, I still have 2 years left of eligibility that will come in handy.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I could have sworn yesterday I saw that the new MGIB didn't take effect until next July/Aug (2009). Anybody else remember this? I'm having a hard time finding the date again and my break is almost over.

My buddy is getting out/starting school this Aug and he said that he will be getting the new GI bill.

I know about that thread and have posted there myself, but if you look at the OP it was created mainly for discussion. The OCD person who posted those numbers was probably me :)D). My intent is to make this a one-stop shop for information and maybe get it stickied up top. Someone else asked about using these benefits and I had to wade through multiple threads to help him out. I hope this thread will help.

HD - I think you just rained on my parade :(. I did a little research and found this. http://www.gibill.va.gov/S22/s22_effective.htm
"Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits are payable for training pursued on or after August 1, 2009. No payments can be made under this program for training pursued before that date."
More info. here http://www.gibill.va.gov/S22/S22 Fact Sheet.pdf

That is funny... You think they would have put that on the GIBILL2008.org website. I guess I will have to edit/or delete the orginal post.

Hey sorry man, the minute I saw they approved it I started my research to see if it would affect my current benefits too. I'm right there with you as I wish it would help us out more but if you're still eligible for the current GI BILL bennies it's not a bad deal. Not as good of a deal, but better off than the OTS and CTI guys are making out right now. I'll be fully checked out before the new one takes effect but I'll still have collected close to 10K when it's all said and done (not to mention I got the $20k bonus coming in). And don't delete your post, it has a lot of good links in it for all VRA's.

Crap! :banghead: Oh well, its still a good deal anyways and I appreciate this thread b/c I NEVER would have thought to continue my benefits, thank you!!

Que Pasa? :yeahthat:

VRA's with 52 consecutive weeks of ATC in the last 2 years qualify for a $20,000 bonus. You must sign a two year agreement. Comes out to about $13,500 after taxes. I had already commited to the FAA so it was a nice surprise for me.
