Belly landing at GKY today...was it anyone here?

Beechcraft? Any bets on it being a blue one?
Yes Steve... it was one of the "Blue" ones... and no Jeremy... it wasn't a Skymates or ATP Piper Seminole.

I saw it unfold on TV... Live coverage! Late Breaking news! For a fairly standard gear failure landing.

The pilot did a great job and got it stopped in what looked like 50 feet.

Those "blue" planes on the other side have always had a reputation... It's one of those things that both ATP and SkyMates guys have always agreed on.

Anyway you look at it though... I'm glad no one got hurt.

the entire atp/skymates/ DQ schools were out there on the field watching and listening on the radios... it was that student's first time up, and he had his instructor there... pretty nice job on the landing, no problems - the gear had halfway extended and as you would expect collapsed at touchdown.

Those planes sure do have a rep.... if I recall correctly that same travalair had a near gear up before, and engine problems regularly.... we try to steer clear of them :)

Yeah I was watching it at the airport. Good landing!!

O yeah for the Skymates guys......ODB was on board!! hahahahahaah;)

I was watching the live news coverage from my hotel. The pilot did a great job! I still can't believe that with some very recent landing gear failure events that were nationally televised some reporters still ask if the runway is going to get foamed!

Too bad they didn't land on one of those fictional runway tread mills. Could have had it match the plane's speed and saved some damage. :)
