Being an Airline Pilot Pro's/ Con's list

I'm not trying to start anything I'm just really curious.

I should have qualified my perspective on the non-rev privileges...

I have 3 young daughters and 11 days off a month. Any trip I'm going to take is going to be a trip with all of them (5 of us with their mom). 5 seats available for a 3 yr seniority DCI guy? Yeah right! Also, the wild connections/layovers to get from ATL to SFO or wherever just aren't any fun with 3 little kids.

So, to be fair, the non-rev/jumpseat privileges will probably work great for a single guy traveling with his girlfriend...not so much with a family.

I figured as much it was mostly family men who would be saying that as the more seats you need the more headaches you get, especially when the kids don't understand why they've been in an airport all day. The only thing that's been a pain for me is buddy passes. Being tied down to one airline and knowing that adding a connection can substantially increase the price of the buddy pass can make things really stressful. And when the buddy isn't with you, it's flat out baby sitting. I guess I'll enjoy this freedom until I have kids, once that happens I guess I can kiss making 12-minute connections in O'Hare goodbye.

It's true though. I used to "love" the job until, well, bankruptcy and I learned how much my CEO loved me back! Oh, LEO!
