Being an air traffic controller...

+1

Nothing like having to tell a pilot who doesn't know how to use their radio to maintain radio silence only to get the reply, Roger N12345 maintaining radio silence.

:clap::clap:

This is what gets me:

Tower: N123, standby.

N123: Roger, standing by.

:banghead:

Right. Because if you didn't say anything, the controller would have assumed you cancelled your flight and went back home.

A380-800 Captains do the same thing, it doesn't matter the "skill" level for crappy comm work

You're VFR. Roll inverted, fly over the top of the Cessna, and let loose with any spare contents of the cockpit. Then proceed number one to the airport. Be sure to extend the gear and then attempt to retract it while inverted so we can answer that question too.

Should I adjust flaps in the flare also?

Well yeah but a wide body captain (while descending like a waxed manhole cover) saying "the beer cans just rolled to my feet so I guess we can take the base turn now" is a hell of a lot more funny than getting another painful 30 second transmission when asking, "The Cessna over XXX requesting flight following to XYZ say again your callsign ONLY"

True story about the beer cans...AWE usually gets my daily funny but not today :)

I might key up and say "Okay" or simply shut up.

Today it was myself and a student in a seminole doing 160 KIAS with a cessna probably doing 100-110 kias both converging on a VFR reporting point, both under ATC radar contact and traffic advisories, both VFR. Usually, the approach controller has the faster aircraft go first. Guess who circled today.
And you got an extra .1 of multiengine time out of it... :)

Some days are like that. I've decided to not get hot under the collar when myself and the Twin Bonanza are sent around because of a 172 on final taking their sweet time...and simply enjoy the fact that I'm off the ground.

I had a UAL check-in descending out of FL250 one night 40 out essentially on a straight-in, I gave him PD to 3000 and asked if he needed vectors to get down. He said "hang on........Nah we have the technology"
