I'm on a trip with the ALPA hotel rep and apparently, a lot of domestic US hotels are having a bed bug problem again.

In the meantime until some hotels get off their duff and address the issue, 'preflight' your hotel beds.

I'm not bullsnitting either.

Isn't there a spray you can buy to protect yourself? And if not would sleeping in something like thermals that cling to you like second skin,with socks on prevent bites?
Also...how can you inspect a bed to see if it has an infestation? Bed bugs are so small?

No, but I am flying UAL via ORD to get to LAS. I am leaving 3 days for NJC just to make sure I make it. I have spent many a night inside the ORD airport.

My wife would laugh about the STD! It's look and NOT touch, not touch and not grope!
 
Doug, why do you continue to report on these hotel problems? :-) I would much rather not know since there's really no way to avoid it, especially since I spend at least 2 weeks per month in hotels.
 
I found a pair of shoes, someone's license, a pair of pants and a ticket stub underneath my bed in an ATL airport area hotel.

But blankets, if unwrapped, generally aren't cleaned between flights so if the former occupier of the blanket on a previous flight had scabies, chances are, you're going to enjoy the pleasure of it as well!

no doubt... dont' forget lice too.. i'm always afraid the seat back is going to have it and there goes my beautifully long hair (i'd HAVE to cut it)!!:banghead:
 
I heard people were getting scabies sleeping in our crew room too. :eek:

Going to work is like a safari. You got your bugs, your snakes, your dogs, and your wildabeasts. Assign each as necessary. :D
 
And Eels.

While I was working for Skyway... I was cleaning the cabin in Madison and found an almost 1/2 meter long EEL underneath the seat.

Unwrapped.

But on the whole cleanliness thing, it's making me a 'clean hands' freak. Notice how many folks pick their nose during the flight and when you're working, there's at least five to ten people that want to shake your hands during deplaning to thank you for a nice ride. So then I figure what percentage of those people don't wash their hands after going to the lavatory (notice how you NEVER run out of soap?).

Even had an old lady sneeze on me a few weeks ago then shake my hand...Eww!

So in theory one could get crabs from sleeping in a dirty hotel bed? Or would that excuse not fly with anyones signifigant other missus or mr depending on ones orientation!
