Beautiful photos of Alaska backcountry - bush flying

Not my photos, but thought they were just too pretty not to pass around.

The pilot who took all of these photos was killed in a crash in June of this year while bush flying in Alaska, really sucks. His dad makes a pretty moving post in the thread.

Those guys certainly fly on the edge, that's gotta be a lot of fun.

Here's a link to the rest of the photos, has a ton of them, all are outstanding.

Truly awesome shots! I came across his blog this past summer. Sad to loose such a talented young pilot.

Yeah, its sad to see him go for his pictures, but I've heard the stories about how he'd push it, that sort of thing catches up to you if you're not too careful.

Not to take anything away from the OP, but quite a few of these photos had been posted before on JC...I remember seeing them and reading about Lunt's story.

It's really sad. I remember being very envious of Lunt and what he was doing. I didn't know he'd been killed.

That, and sometimes #### just happens. I was talking with some old bush pilots around here, it doesn't take much before you get can get in trouble. Sometimes things are beyond your control. I've tried to make it a goal to never say "I'd never do that" or "I would never get in that situation". Because it happens to the highly experienced, and the low experienced.

Amazing pics! My grandfather was an Alaskan bush pilot back in the early 1920's, and those really put a picture to many of the stories I have heard.
