Be careful out there ...

I always wondered how folks remember weird anniversaries, I'm not convinced it isn't Facebook, the overwhelming majority of folks can't remember what they had for breakfast. Certain things in my life stick with me like glue and I'll never forget any of it, but pretending I remember the exact date I had to put my best dog down is fuzzy. I loved that dog.

Yeah, it was big news in their department today, hence how I heard about it. Makes sense, for as long as he had served in this dept as their first chief when they were created in 1984.

I think the only anniversary I ever see on Facebook (also an only occasional user) is 9/11. Or I guess Pearl Harbor. I do know that Mike is a curator of uncommon knowledge of historical aviation events. If someone is putting those anniversaries onto FB, it is most likely him. One of the only groups I'm on is one that he invited me to......for old fighter pilots. Sorry none of you are invited :) Joking aside, its pretty neat. Mostly desert storm vets, but a lot of Vietnam and even earlier vets too. Guys who flew century series fighters. And a ton of F-4 and early F-15/F-16 dudes. I'm by FAR one of the youngest "old guys" on there. It's a good read, with lots of Mike's historical summaries of various squadrons and operational details of past conflicts.
