Numbers of accidents and incidents happen daily in GA all around the country. Just pick any day of any year in the NTSB database, and you’ll see multiple accidents per day, not all with injures or fatal. It’s only lately that these are making national news, when they used to not always.

I also saw on Reddit people saying he said on the radio he left it on, but video of it flying low overhead shows pretty clear it isn’t.

Without a tiller it would also be hard to taxi from the hangar with a rudder gust lock installed.
