That all still sounds very interesting. I had no idea about the Eclipse Jet stuff, but then again, I don't go to UND right now. I would think a course in that thing would be pricey, but I really have no idea how UND would work things. Very cool, though.
...and after a year here, you can get "in-state" tuition and save even MORE moneyYeah, very true. I've told you guys how I was looking to transfer there, and it's funny because the out-of-state tuition up there is actually wayyyyy cheaper than the in-state that I am paying at SIU. I wouldn't mind taking some of that money that I have "saved" if I got into UND, and applying it toward that course. It'd be great experience. Necessary? No, but I would love to do it.
Exactly! It's so cheap up there, really.
It's cheaper than where I am at. I know that. Plus you guys have equipment that works, and I'm sure you get to fly more than 3 times a month like I am at this place. I would've been better off at an FBO than my current school.
Yeah it's what I'm trying to do. I'm aware of the weather up there. I guess my point was that some of the reasons I am not flying are things like my instructor being late all the time, airplanes constantly out of service, too many people scheduled, weather, my instructor still doesn't know how to use the scheduling program. I have a friend that is a freshman up there now, and he tells me that he loves it so far. I am open to all opinions, so I am glad you would share with me, as I want to make the best choice possible, so thank you.
Visit in the winter if you can as well. I visited in the summer and didn't mind the smaller town. It is a lot different here in the summer compared to the winter. I have no regrets coming here, but I'm one of those guys that starts getting in a pretty bad mood when we go 4 or 5 days(or even more!) with nothing but clouds and snow. Winter just sucks, borderline unlivable for me. I recommend checking it out for yourself.
But most kids here have mommy and daddy paying, so it'd still have high demand anyway.
Out of the 40+ students I've had, only 1, I repeat, ONLY ONE had his/her parents paying for everything.
You need to stop posting #### as fact.
So you're telling me that every 40+ of your students specified whether or not they're parents were paying for their eduction? Complete crap.
No, not complete crap. Here is the all famous quote..."I can't fly because my loan check hasn't come in yet."
There are less kids around here than you think that have their education paid for.

I own that quote.
Luke, I'm not sure if you had to take out loans, and if so, what type of loans you requested. What I do know is that the process for taking out commercial loans is much easier/faster than taking out PLUS loans. If I'm aware of that, you might ask, "Why would you take out PLUS loans then?" The reason for this is that they used to have much better interest rates than other commercial loans. I have a large sum of loans consolidated at barely under 5% which I consider to be pretty good. For this reason, going through that loan process isn't anything fast. "Why not do it on time then?", you might ask...well, remember that you can't apply for aid unless you have registered for that particular class which requires the aid. Such that if you're off-template by one lesson, you can't register for the next semester's class and as such cannot apply for the aid. This becomes a recurring cycle that is hard to avoid especially if you're flying semester after semester as I have been doing (including each one of the summers). The problem started when I was off template for 102. That affected me until CFII as funny as it may sound. I take the time to write this because it's something you or others might not have thought about.
