Banner tow pilot needed

Im looking to hire a handful of part time pilots for banner towing around the Southern California area. Previous banner experience is not required but is helpful. Work is mainly on the weekends but there are some weekday tows every now and then. The job would be part time to start and could work into a full time position in a short time. Minimum requirements would be Commercial, tailwheel endorsed with at least 400tt and 200 tailwheel. Total time is flexible if you have a good amount of tailwheel experience to make up for it. Aircraft flown are all Christen A-1 Huskies in good shape.

Pay isnt great to start but that all depends on experience. As for the mins insurance likes to see as much tailwheel as possible. Could be lowered if you have banner experience or ag flying etc. The company website is www.aviad.com

Insurance companies don't like to write policies for tail draggers for good reason. 9 hours of tailwheel time won't cut it. I'd be leery of looking at anyone with less than 100 hrs TW time if this were my outfit.

So, how does Van Wagner get away with low tailwheel time guys in a PA-18. If, after all, the Husky is an improved PA-18?

They don't actually do many landings - it is a mostly-in-the-air job. They require 3 point landings only, smart with the big props they have. They are big enough that one accident won't put them out of business. The pilots I have met there are pretty solid in any case.

Smart insurance companies (like the one I'm on a policy with) care more about tail wheel landings than tail wheel hours anyway. And time in type.

Van Wagner Airship Group.
I thought so. Wasnt sure though. They acquired the Airships in SEP as I was leaving. I met some of the airship guys at OBI last summer while I was towing banners just before the merger. I got to help them "dock" the airship. Talked with one of the pilots. An Austrailian fellow. Anyway, it was neat to see up close since my only experience with them was watching them from the ground.

I'll tow for free.

Yeah, its not all fun and candy as it would look to be from the outside.
