I have been selected for a position at Bangor International Airport in Maine, but dont know what to expect. Can anyone tell me about the Airport and or the surrounding area and the rating of the facility. I think it is a level 6 not too sure though but hopefully it is a good place for someone like me starting off to gain experience then working my way up to a higher rating terminal. :panic: lol

hey man, first off congratulations on being selected. I am not from Maine but I can tell you it is a level 6 up and down. Here is a link to all of the facility levels throughout the country.

I was recently selected for a terminal position in NY. I wont find out where I'm headed until March 20th. From the controllers I've spoken to personally and from the ones on this site, it seems like a great move to start at a smaller facility. Experience is definitely your friend in this field. They have all said to start small and work your way up. The only thing I know about Bangor Airport is that there is a busy Air National Guard refueling wing up there. I think they have around 10 KC-135's and they handle a majority of the fuelings from military aircraft crossing the atlantic. I'm sure they will keep you on your toes. Well, good luck up there and stay warm!!

Congrats, as well!

The refuelers are known as the MAINEiacs... I have had a couple of occasions in the past to talk to them.

As far as working at BGR... I knew a supe from there, but that was a long time ago, so I can't really add anything current.

As for working and living in Maine... keep a good sense of "humah" and learn how and when to say, "wicked good."

Thank you I am currently waiting for my background check to come back and Im golden. This has been one of the longest process dating back from applying back in April. But I am so looking forward to this experience.
