Ord tsa informed me all company badges without crew on them are no longer accepted at security. #Annoyed.
Thoughts?

Policy must have changed in the past 15 hours as I just went through security using mine last night at ORD....a majority of crew aren't even using the security lines as they have KCM. The TSA are a bunch of morons

Hot off the TSA site (https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification) under approved methods of identification:
  • Airline or airport-issued ID (if issued under a TSA-approved security plan)
Emphasis added by me. That last bit may give them an excuse not to accept company ID, but I would think that the ID issued by a major airline would be issued under such a plan. Anyhow you can always try showing the link to them, but they probably will find some excuse to be extra bitchy if they already have a PITA attitude. TSA: Thousands Standing Around, or it could also refer to what some of them like to tell people: "Tough Shiite, •."

Only badges with CREW on them are TSA regulated (possibly ones with RAMP on them also). But generic company badges without a TSA regulated element are not considered to be issued under the TSA regulated security plan (accepted).

This is why I get heated over this topic ( TSA vs Dispatchers ). We have the same access to sit in the flight deck as a pilot. We get 10 year background checks just like the guys/girls on the ramp. Why is there always an issue with us going through a crewmember/airport worker/KCM line? We all get the same background checks as the next person.

Agree completely. Unfortunately it's up to the airline and FSDO/Poi to agree to include Dispatchers under the CREW umbrella of badges. Because of the requirement to sit in the cockpit for the completion of job duties it should be relatively straight forward. But, for what ever reason........ It's not. It's stupid.

I understand what your saying and the TSA in my area told the airline I work for that we cant be in CASS because we are supplemental and not domestic flag. SERIOUSLY! Such a loud of crap and they need to restructure and rewrite some of there "laws". Nothing ever makes sense when they talk.

Every TSA checkpoint needs to know what every airlines employee badge looks like. The badges should have watermark holograms that would prove them legit. End of problem.

In the real world, all 121 dx company ID's should have crew on them and with changes coming dropping uniform requirements dispatchers should be put into KCM.

I know it has been said previously in an older thread (but it was confusing, not clear, and only a few answered).. However, what are some of the airlines whose Dispatchers ID's say Crew on them. We started a discussion at work and in order to pitch the idea we would need some support. Ex. other airlines who do have crew on them.

Thanks all!

I only know of Endeavor having Crew on badges and when they were still around Colgan did too.

The number of companies that have "crew" on dispatcher badges is been steadily declining to close to zero. Some time ago the pilots unions started having a bird about it and the dispatchers, not really having any sort of strong argument for continuing the practice, got steamrolled.
