Background check question (for those who have already done)

I hope this isnt a repeat, but I know each case can be a bit different. My question is about how long did it take you guys to get your check back, and if anyone has failed it about what is the amount of time when I should start to get worried. I submitted my check in July/end of June.

Background check is usually the last clearance to go through. You usually get a preliminary clearance first, but the actual check can take up to a year to complete and I believe it is good for three years. Also I am sure the length of time it takes depends on the level of clearance you need. The SF-86 takes longer to process than the SF-85P,

The more "unique" things in your background, the longer it'll take. That means more addresses, more places you've worked, any criminal convictions, any medical questions they may have, anybody who takes their time returning the reference letters... it all can drag it out.

If you're at around four or five months, that's not too unusual. You can always try giving Aviation Careers a call to ask if they've heard anything, although they aren't the ones who're processing it. While it's easier said than done, don't worry too much... they'll contact you if they need anything, and unlike other parts of the process, they haven't lost your stuff or forgotten about you.
