Backcountry Mail Route

About two months ago I flew the entire Salmon river in an R-44. It is pretty remote up there. One of those places where you get to thinking it would suck to make a precautionary landing. Then you hear noises coming from the helicopter you don't remember ever hearing before.

The mailman in his Husky... LOL! Sweet job if you ask me.

Sometimes it would be but in the middle of the winter on skis I think those 1900 foot long strips would look mighty short. And some of these runways in the back country will try a good pilot. Most are non-standard dirt or grass or gravel, with a sharp turn on short final, etc. Bob
