"Looks like I will be getting an education in Density Altitude"

There is a story about a turbocharged light twin that crashed years ago up at KGCN because he lost a turbo and that took so much power away that he thought he lost the engine, so he secured it. He lived to tell the story but the airplane didn't (I think, anyone remember that one). I'm sure the mechanics take good care of the turbo's at GCA.

The 182 would be the "two people want to go on a tour" airplane. It should be fine. We used a 172 for that out of Boulder City.

Congrats DD. I agree with the canned narration, or at least embellished ones. ;)

"...playground of T-Rex and Wooly Mammoths..."

"does anyone see an airport on the south side of the rim somewhere???"

I'm picturing the scene out of Con Air when they are flying the tourist around than all the sudden the helicopters and everything come out of no where.

Good luck and have fun.

Congratulations!! I *almost* took a job with these guys after 500hrs of instructing or so--I know they've been through some staff changes recently, but they seemed pretty honest about the job and the situation at the time. In retrospect, I think I would have loved it. The Grand Canyon is fascinating geologically, and I would have loved flying there every day. I know you'll be building the time pretty quick there.

Now I get to fly over the GC once a week at FL300, though :)

"That is where the ancient kokopelli brought frybread to the people of saguaro."
:laff: You're a trip.

Awesome stuff Van!! Man, you were just getting started when I first found JC last year and look how far you have come already!

Even if it is just a big hole, it still has got to be pretty cool to do, especially after flying in the American Flatland for so long!

Congrats again and best of luck sir!
