Back from Ft. Benning

Hi everyone!! yes, I arrived home yesterday from the Ft. Benning school for boys. All I can say is that I'm glad it's over. I went through Infantry training with no problems, even though I was two times the age of most of the guys there.

The worst: ten days at the Reception Battalion (30th AG), the Gas Chamber (man that sucked), and the cold ( yes, it gets freaking cold in Georgia).

The best: getting my Blood Crossed Rifles at Honor Hill after FTX. It was so movie like, with music, bonfires, and the greetings from the Drill Sergeants. And of course the other best thing was to graduate and get out of there. :)

Before I left for training, I remember Ian encouraging me and telling me that " nothing I can tell you could prepare you for what you're about to experience". Ian, those words were in my head all the time the day we've got picked up by the Drill Sergeants followed by the infamous "Shark Attack". Anyone who has been through the experience knows what I'm talking about.

For those interested I was at 1st platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Brigade. My MOS is 11B (Infantryman)

I'm glad to be back!! :rawk:

P.S: It's 4 A.M. and I'm wide awake. I thing I might just get on my PT's and go running. Haha :D

Welcome back man! I'll bring you back some Mahou from Madrid and send it to you one of these months!

Welcome back.

BMT was one of the most satisfying times in my life. Enjoy it, remember it, look back on it frequently.

Email me an address to send it and you'll have a nice treat in a little less than a month! I do a MAD trip in a few weeks, it'd be a pleasure.

Mariano, welcome back and congratulations on your graduation!:nana2: I want to thank you for standing up like the rest of us veterans and donate a little of your time to serve this country. Right on brotha!:)

Congrats to you, Mariano! 11B was my first MOS back in the day. A week before graduation, assignments were announced. Half went to Germany and the U.S. assignments. The other half of us went to Vietnam.

Where ever you go, remember the words always etched in my mind:

Never volunteer.

Keep your head down.

I never REALLY paid attention to those words.:D

BRAVO, my brother!!! Well done, Mariano!! Thank you for your service and best wishes wherever you are stationed/deployed!!!
