Hi everyone!! yes, I arrived home yesterday from the Ft. Benning school for boys. All I can say is that I'm glad it's over. I went through Infantry training with no problems, even though I was two times the age of most of the guys there.
The worst: ten days at the Reception Battalion (30th AG), the Gas Chamber (man that sucked), and the cold ( yes, it gets freaking cold in Georgia).
The best: getting my Blood Crossed Rifles at Honor Hill after FTX. It was so movie like, with music, bonfires, and the greetings from the Drill Sergeants. And of course the other best thing was to graduate and get out of there.
Before I left for training, I remember Ian encouraging me and telling me that " nothing I can tell you could prepare you for what you're about to experience". Ian, those words were in my head all the time the day we've got picked up by the Drill Sergeants followed by the infamous "Shark Attack". Anyone who has been through the experience knows what I'm talking about.
For those interested I was at 1st platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment, 198th Infantry Brigade. My MOS is 11B (Infantryman)
I'm glad to be back!! :rawk:
P.S: It's 4 A.M. and I'm wide awake. I thing I might just get on my PT's and go running. Haha
