Baby born on flight to Salt Lake

Do airplanes have gloves? I have gloves in my car, but I would not want to be touching some else's amniotic fluid without them.

Yes...At least in our aircraft (an RJ) there is a first aid kit and an enhanced kit for trained professionals (Nurse/Dr/Medic) on board. We even have an automatic defibrillator.

Good - cause I would happily help, but I am pretty big on medical asepsis. I also would like to know what is included in the enhanced kit? Drugs?

OH I found this - really doesn't look like much!!!

Each first-aid kit must be accessible to the flight attendants and include:

bandages
compresses for applying pressure, moisture, heat, or cold
antiseptic swabs
arm and leg splints
tape
scissors.
An airplane's medical kit must be accessible to the flight crew, but is for use only by medical professionals. It must include:

blood pressure cuff
stethoscope
plastic airways to deliver oxygen to help with breathing
nitroglycerin tablets for chest pain
dextrose solution for hypoglycemia
epinephrine for asthma or allergic reactions
injectable diphenhydramine HCl for serious allergic reactions
hypodermic needles
protective latex gloves.

Doubtful. A meds kit would be too much for an airline to maintain IMO, and quite a liability.

This happend a couple months back on a chinese airline I believe. They gave the baby Flight Benefits for life. :)

And the plane made 2 more flights after that.....i could only hope for the next paying person sitting there.....things were cleaned.

Wouldn't the mother kinda be afraid/or should be afraid to fly when far along into a pregnancy?!?!

I wonder what City and State they used for the place of birth?
Maybe they listed the Attending physician, PIC and SIC as God parents or just the FA's?
Boeing 737 model ?,
SW flight number or just the tailnumber?
No smoking on board, so there would be no cigar

From what I have seen this guidelines are rarely followed - the 4 week old who was smothered on the mother's breast on a flight from DC to Kuwait shouldn't have been flying IMHO. I wouldn't fly a child until they are 10 weeks old and only if you can insure they will feed during take off and landing.

MikeD - it seems the company that makes the kits send updates for medication, much like Jepp does for charts.
