BA Pilot Program

I would guess having the right to work in the EU would be high on the list of Quals....Something you're not likely to get if you're not from an EU country
 
I am from the States, but my parents both have citizenship from an EU member-state, and by extension the laws of that nation also make me a citizen thereof. This program is certainly not for me though. Looking into it further I found out that anyone who already has a CPL or ATP is disqualified from entering. BA says that it needs 800 pilots up through 2016. If I hadn't gotten my CPL yet, I would have given it greater thought.

Hey, I've got one of those! But I kinda regret getting it lol.

Anyhow, there is a long discussion on this program over on pprune, but the short story is that they will select about a dozen or so individuals. To be eligible, one must be a EU citizen. You apply through one of three flying schools and front most of the costs but will be reimbursed by BA over a few years.

The part I don't understand is why BA finances these types of programs when IAG is shedding over 400 pilots from Iberia, not to mention that there are hundreds of experienced airline pilots in Europe all over Europe. Oh well, I guess that's why I'm not in management?

800 Pilots by 2016? I can assure you that they will have absolutely no problem finding that many willing applicants
 
Come to think of it, how does the overall situation look like for pilots in Europe? Is it only BA that will be faced with upcoming retirements?

I don't really know, but I was referring to the FPP deal where they take guys with 0 hrs and 0 experience and pay for their training. They do it about Once a year.

The situation in Europe is quite bad and the future looks bleak. Every time that there is a positive announcement there appears to be two negative one.
 
BA recruitment is •.

The booming aviation industry could be in China. They can't speak English well. I encourage low-timers to go cold knocking.

There are no jobs for low timers, you get may be a chance if you buy your own type rating.

we got 900 resumes from Europe for 3 position open at our company..
