I am just wondering what other cargo operators out there are using to do their W & B calcs and who does them, FO or FE? Also what are you using for your RWY Analysis?

Ramp does it, crews only get into it with contingencies, but that is really a basic one. It is all computerized, either with the mainframe or can be done on a PC.

Rwy analysis is done by the flight crew on our aircraft performance computer.

Perf Computer...What's that :sarcasm: All ours have been removed / Deactivated along with most of the other "toys".

The little performance box that you have installed (we used to have those in the some of 727s for climb power settings, etc., not sure if we still do), is not what I am talking about. Ours is a PC that contains all the takeoff and landing and other performance data. In fact, ours was the model from which SWA and JetBlue got theirs.

Southern Air, Atlas, Polar, Gemini, and Kalitta have Loadmasters to prepare the Weight and Balance.

At Southern, when I was working as a Load, the W&B was a paper form... because I am a techno-nut I designed a excel spreadsheet to do all of the calculations (it had hundreds and hundreds of calculations and lookups) - but still had to fill out the paper form for legal purposes. I would pass the completed form to the FO, who would then do the T/O-RWY info section. (I would be then watching the rampers like a hawk to make sure they were putting up all the locks, checking the load to make sure there is no funny business going on - like undeclared hazmat/DG's and etc.)

I think that they might have upgraded to a computer by now to prep the paperwork. You have alot more choices for distribution in a 747 than a 727.
