Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia

I noticed nobody responded to this. I have never been, just super jealous.

Yea, can't find a ton of info on these countries other then some random internet bloggers. For what it's worth, they look safe, even with Armenia and Azerbaijan at war.

Headed out there in September for the Formula 1 GP and looking at suggestion for anyone that's ever been to these countries. Trying to hit more exotic locations for vacations instead of the normal stuff.
Nothing to contribute other than Georgian food is amazingly delicious and highly underrated.

I'm excited. Apparently, I will be going during their big wine harvest/festival so should be a good time. We did Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay last year for about 3 weeks and that was amazing. This should be a great time too.

I’ve been to Baku a number of times, I loved it.

It presses so many buttons. Friendly locals, great food and drink, historic sites, interesting architecture.

Like Turkey, it’s a secular state with a Muslim majority … that likes to drink and dance and yell at TV’s during soccer games.

I’m fascinated with Azerbaijan. They have friendly relations with everybody … other than the Artsakh Armenians. They remain cordial with the Russians, don’t flirt with NATO, supply oil and gas to Europe, and have close relationships with both Israel and Iran. Amazing.

I hope to return.

Georgia and Armenia are where my sister in law spent covid. She(29) was there alone. The pictures and her stories were amazing. Save for a 29 yr old sing female. I just wanted to move there but couldn’t(covid). It will be amazing.

It’s a dictatorship. I also spent a lot of time in Baku, it was meh. Unless you enjoy authoritarian regimes that put journalists in jail.

I had a great time in Baku. There are democracies that I’ve hated visiting and dictatorships that I’ve enjoyed immensely.

There are places that I like visiting for a week that I know I couldn’t reside.

Beyond that, I think that we’ve learned that the path to a western-style democracy is a little more complicated than we once believed. We’ve created a few failed-states by not understanding this.

@jhugz Just had a moment of correlation. Are you over at at Tulip? I came across a strikingly similar post on the company forum regarding these countries and the f1 race.
